At Your Desk Yoga For Office Stress Relief

Increasing your daily activity level is an important part of staying fit and leading a healthy lifestyle.
It is easier than you think to look and feel your best! Start by making small changes in your daily routine.

Consistency is important so hold yourself accountable for activities you know you can stick to. For example, if you take a short break at your desk everyday to stand up, stretch, and do these five yoga poses – you will reduce your stress, and improve your ability to concentrate in and out of the office.

Take a break at work with these 5 simple yoga poses. They are designed to ease neck and shoulder tension, release stress and calm the nervous system. Hold each pose for 5 breaths and repeat once or twice.

Twists: With your feet flat on the floor, turn to your right. A healthy twist begins in your core and spirals up your back as your neck turns to gaze behind you. Repeat on the left.

Forward Bend: Rest your belly and chest on top of your thighs allowing your head, neck and shoulders to release towards the floor.

Heart Opener: Bring your elbows in line with your shoulders. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and down as you move your elbows back.

Neck Rolls: Close your eyes and bring your right ear towards your right shoulder. Slowly bring your chin towards your chest. Then move to the left side taking the left ear towards the left shoulder.

Purifying Breath: Sit with the spine straight. Rest the hands on your lap. Close your eyes and allow your breath to deepen naturally. Take smooth, even inhales and exhales.
